HBO used to have an unofficial scale to see what boxers weighed on the night of a fight.

Day of weigh ins are a solid solution but I doubt it goes through. I’m definitely not opposed to completely but the shift will be difficult and frustrating for fighters, trainers/camps, promotions and fans at first as guys won’t know what they’re doing yet, missing weight and even more last minute pull outs. Just playing advocate here and looking to see every option and the options outcome.

What about, and if this is a terrible indie, fine...definitely not my first...taking the HBO day of scale idea as a cap of how much weight % a fighter is aloud to put on the day of fight after the previous day weight in. So a 125lb man would have a smaller actual amount of weight as a MW but the same %. So maybe a WW can weight up to 180-185 while a BW 142-147. These are totally random numbers just to state point they’re by no means my suggested % or total pounds aloud.

@swain they kind of already do that. I believe the cap is you can put back on 20% no more. If u add anymore u don't get sanctioned to fight. This may just be in nevada under nsac I'm not positive.

But the real problem is fighters trying to lose too much weight too fast. Some of these guys try to lose 30 to 40 pounds its insane. Girls too u ever see the cyborg documentry where it shows her trying to make the 145 pound feather weight limit. ****en insane she failed while almost killing herself and ufc had the inaugural women's feather weight championship without her.

They gotta take the option away from the fighters. Force them to fight at the weight they walk around at or only one division down. Dropping two three divisions is insane yet north american fighters do it all the time.

Whittaker stopped droping down and became middle weight champ. I think we'd get better fights as a result.

Yea, I think you’re right. I remember hearing something a while back but really didn’t pay attention enough to know if it was in play.

Maybe the 20% is too high first off.  The more I think about it, I do like same day weigh ins. It is a more fair playing field. I know fighters and camps want time to recover but you shouldn’t suck weight in fashions you need a day to recover.

I hope you know I fully understand how much people cut as I’ve done it and been around it. We always did same day weigh ins though. Ha. I’ve never been a huge fan of it, even when coaches wanted us to do it. That’s why I eventually said **** you and stopped.

I did know that swain the whole weight cutting phenomenon comes from American wrestling and boxing.
It's almost like it's a part of the sport that u have to do.

10% might solve some problems but it only counts for how much u can put back on before the fight not how much u can lose which is the real problem.

Don't get me wrong, the fight time weigh-ins should just be a year long fact finding mission so that what fighters actulaly weigh is open knowledge and not a ******* secret (looking at you Mr. FW champ who can't healthily cut to LW) so that they could then start getting guys in the "proper" weight class. Obviously they should also be weighed post-fight as well and hydration tests should be included; dieting to get down is fine as long as they're not sucking water out. It would make it much easier and healthier to find late replacements as well.

I honestly can’t believe UFC actually signed more women’s 145ers, especially since they look like they’re putting an end to men’s 125. I’m happy with both staying. I think if Spencer gets her down Megan will be in trouble.

Yea, dudes. Magney is toast. He’s definitely proven me wrong. Yet I still think he’s a overachiever (compliment). He defbeaten some guys I still ponder how. He’s made the most of his skill set and athletic prowess. That said, people won’t be as likely to take him lightly. It’s caught up with him, IMO. I think he gets mauled here.

The Trilogy nobody ever asked for! Seriously why has this fight been booked? Has Oliveira pissed someone at the UFCCC off?! Mans on a 4 fight win streak, all exciting finishes, broke Royce Graciess all time submission record and this is the fight he gets? Makes no sense to me? Thought he deserved a crack at the top 10, maybe Vick or Gillespie would've been an amazing grappling match with some of the best jui jitsu vs amazing wrestling

Pereira vs. Roberts
Danny Roberts, TKO, R2
They signed the crazy back flipping off the cage guy! SWEET! I expect something wild as Danny Roberts loves a tear up too so could be a fight of the year

Guys like Herman and Cummins should be fighting these younger guys. The UFC has been signing a lot of 205ers lately. This looks like a loser leaves town match, and that seems like wasted opportunity to me.
